Everyday that we were in Akureyri, Buddy mentioned how beautiful it was there. As you saw from yesterday's photo of the city on the edge of the fjord, it really is breath-taking.

Godafoss waterfall
We wandered around town in the morning, stopping at the cultural center, the Hof, and a traditional bread-making place. We had lunch at a cute little Parisian cafe, and then *gasp* bought more yarn at a small shop called Flora.

Geitafoss waterfall
After lunch we headed back east (the way we came from the night before), towards Lake Myvatn.

Sheep in front of Lake Myvatn
After exploring the two falls (Godafoss and Geitafoss), we went and did a small hike around the crazy looking
Dimmuborgir. It's a lava field with oddly shaped formations (caused by lava flowing over a lake).

Inside Grjótagjá
Grjótagjá was next -- a very neat underground cave with a hot spring inside of it!
Good thing yarn is light and relatively cheap to ship!
