Day 79 - Punta Moreno

Started off the day by talking a walk through a pahoehoe lava field.  We saw both lava and candelabra cacti before getting to a lagoon where we saw a bunch of wildlife - 3 flamingos, mullet fish, and egrets.  Spent a bunch of time watching the flamingos which were much closer than our last spotting, but still far enough away to make it difficult to see details easily.

The snorkeling site that morning was essentially our only chance at seeing seahorses, so I spent the whole time looking for them.  Not really knowing what size or colour to expect, I didn't have much luck (though I did spot an octopus!).  Got back into the zodiac when time was up and took off my fins.  That's when another group found a seahorse!  Slapped on my fins and jumped back in!  The seahorse was about 15-20' down, brown and ~10cm (with it's tail curled up).  Couldn't stay down there very long and wasn't able to get a decent photo, but saw one!  (Char stayed on the boat, but heard all about it from everyone.)

After a lunch, and playing some Crazy Rummy (a card game variant of rummy), we all boarded the zodiacs and toured around Elizabeth Bay.  Among the mangroves we saw a huge amount of turtles, numerous herons, sea lions, rays and even some great views of penguins!

Rounded out the night with part 3 of the BBC Galapagos documentary.
